TATTOO AFTERCARE

  • Once your new tattoo is completed, an adhesive bandage will be applied. Remove the bandage 24-72 hours after it is applied. It is ok to get the bandage wet in the shower but avoid soaking the area as it will weaken the bandage. If your tattoo is bandaged with anything different, remove the bandage after 1 hour.

  • After your bandage is removed, you should wash your tattoo with liquid antibacterial soap and clean water. Then pat dry with a clean paper towel or let it air dry.

  • Let your tattoo dry for 24 hours. Then begin to apply a thin layer of unscented body lotion 1-2 times a day for the first week. For the following 3 weeks, apply once a day. Be sure to wash the tattoo before applying lotion. Do not use A and D ointment or petroleum based products.

  • While your tattoo is healing for the next 3-6 weeks, It is best to avoid swimming pools, saunas, jacuzzi’s, lakes, rivers, direct sunlight, gardening and any extreme exercising. Do not let any pets or animals come in direct contact with your new tattoo. You want to keep your tattoo as clean as possible to avoid any risk of infection.

  • Signs and symptoms of infection include, but are not limited to, redness, swelling, tenderness of the procedure site, red streaks going from the procedure site towards the heart, elevated body temperature, or purulent drainage from the procedure site.
